Winter is approaching, and the daylight is growing shorter each day. Even as a therapist, I find that my mood and energy can also be affected by the seasonal shift — struggling to get up in the morning, losing motivation, and finding it difficult to engage in activities that once brought me joy and interest.
In life, we all experience highs and lows. There are times when everything seems to fall into place and we excel in whatever we do, but there are also times when we repeatedly lose, fail, or feel defeated. In those moments, it can feel as though we have fallen to the bottom of a valley, forgetting that growth itself often begins there and can eventually carry us upward again.
冬天即將來臨,白晝也一天比一天短。即使身為一名治療師,我也發現自己的情緒與能量會受到季節轉換的影響——早晨難以起床、失去動力,甚至很難投入那些曾經帶給我快樂與熱情的活動之中。
人生裡,我們都會經歷高低起伏。有些時候,一切似乎都順利地落在正確的位置上,做什麼都能發揮得很好;但也有些時候,我們一再失敗、挫折,甚至感到被擊倒。在那些時刻,我們彷彿跌落到山谷的最底端,忘記了成長往往正是從低谷開始,並終有一天會再次帶著我們向上攀升。




When we become trapped in rumination and negative thinking, sometimes what we need most is simply to take action — to make a small move. It could be going for a walk, taking the stairs instead of the lift, or watching an uplifting film. I have tried them all. Yet above all, it was painting a playful unicorn and introducing it to my young client that truly shifted my mood. The simple act of getting my hands messy with rainbow paint and drawing a magical creature symbolising joy and hopefulness brought me genuine happiness. It reconnected me with my inner child, who, in turn, connected with my young client.
The next time we feel low, perhaps we can choose to get our hands messy and engage ourselves somatically and viscerally through creative play. Who knows — perhaps the “unicorn” we create may bring healing, empower us in unexpected ways, and give us the strength to keep going.
當我們陷入反芻思緒與負面想法之中時,有時候,我們最需要的其實只是採取行動——哪怕只是一個很小的動作。可能是出去散步、選擇走樓梯而不是搭電梯,或是看一部能帶來力量與希望的電影。這些方法我都嘗試過。然而,真正改變我情緒的,卻是畫下一隻淘氣的獨角獸,並把牠介紹給我的小個案。
當我的雙手沾滿彩虹色顏料,畫出這隻象徵快樂與希望的魔法生物時,那份單純而直接的創作喜悅,真的為我帶來了快樂。它讓我重新連結到自己的內在小孩,而那位內在小孩,也進一步與我的小個案建立了連結。
下一次,當我們感到低落時,也許可以試著讓雙手沾染顏料,透過創意遊戲,以身體性的、感官性的方式重新投入生命之中。誰知道呢——也許我們所創造出的那隻「獨角獸」,會在意想不到的地方帶來療癒、賦予我們力量,並讓我們有勇氣繼續走下去。
